This red-hot platter qualifies as some serious Hillbilly Bop with Chet Atkins joining Skeeter and BJ on echo-drenched guitar for “The Christmas Boogie”. Guaranteed to get your Christmas stocking rockin’.

It’s a snow day this coming Sunday on Roy’s Record Room. You’ll hear an eclectic batch of wintery sides about sleigh rides, snowmobiles, ski trails, sub-zero temperatures, and, yes, SONGS ABOUT snow. Roy plays vinyl and shellac from Stompin’ Tom Connors, Jesse Winchester, Etta Jones, the Cocteau Twins, Big Maceo with Tampa Red, Julie London, and more.

A cool highlight is an ancient red vinyl RCA Victor 45 circa 1949. Arthur Fiedler conducts the Boston Pops Orchestra for the very first recording of a Holiday classic, “Sleigh Ride”. When Roy picked up this single back in 2010, the original mono recording had been out of print for decades. Lean in. Pick up on the excellent fidelity of this 1949 version of “Sleigh Ride’”.
