In 1991, Roy realized a career-long dream by releasing The Human Kind, his country album. The record was recorded at Mushroom Studios over several sessions during 1990 and 1991. Roy was in the producer’s chair once again while Rolf Hennemann recorded and mixed the project.

Musicians on this recording include Chris Nordquist - drums; Laurence Knight - bass; Dan Smith - electric guitar; David Wilkie - mandolin and tenor guitar; Calvin Vollrath - fiddle; John Lacey - pedal steel; and Sue Leonard - harmony vocals.

Roy’s on lead vocals and acoustic guitar. He plays electric guitar on “Still A Fool” and “Let Me Make It Up To You Tonight”.

“Saskatoon Moon” is a duet by Roy and his friend Connie Kaldor.

As well as the songs mentioned above, the album includes such Roy classics as “The Human Kind” and “Your Image Of Me” alongside interpretations of such country standards as Hank Snow’s “(Now And Then There’s) A Fool Such As I”, Don Gibson’s “Just One Time” and Hank Williams’s “Alone And Forsaken”.
